The Chinese Medical Association Respiratory Disease Annual Meeting and the 19th Congress of Chinese Thoracic Society (CTS2018) were successfully held in Suzhou from August 29th to September 2nd, With the theme of “Strengthening Cooperative Research and Promoting Disciplinary Development”, the conference attracted almost 10,000 experts in the respiratory field from all over the world.

The annual National Conference on Respiratory Diseases is the academic conference with the highest academic level and specifications in the field of respiratory diseases in China. It is also an important platform for demonstrating the latest research results of respiratory diseases in China and promoting the comprehensive development of disciplines. It also has important influence in breathing industry gatherings with a wide range of participation. Numerous experts in respiratory science and famous doctors participated in the meeting, bringing the frontiers of the discipline and the development trend and strategy of the discipline. Academician Zhong Nanshan and Academician Wang Chen of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Chen Rongchang, Chairman of the Chinese Medical Association Respiratory Diseases Branch, and Professor Qu Jieming, as well as other well-known respiratory scholars brought 14 conference reports, which were held simultaneously in 20 sessions for 2 consecutive days. The number of registered people at the annual meeting reached more than 9,000, and the total number of submissions was 4,491, 1,045 submissions were from Jiangsu, and the number of live video hits exceeded 100,000, all of which created historical records. Among them, the poster circHECTD1 mediated HECTD1 regulates the process of silicosis in the lungs of the master student from Dr. Chao Jie’s laboratory, won the Best Poster Award. In recent years, Dr. Chao's group has conducted in-depth research on the treatment and pathogenesis of silicosis and published several articles in internationally recognized journals. Dr. Chao's group will constantly develop and innovate to promote the development of the respiratory discipline. Dr. Chao's group will also pay attention to the improvement and cultivation of young teachers and postgraduate research capabilities, encourage them to actively participate in the exchange of academic conferences, and fully demonstrate the graceful bearing of Southeast on the national breathing stage.
